Africa-Press<\/a> – Rwanda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Fidele Ndayisaba has been appointed as the new Director-General of an electric supply company called International Electricity Society of the Great Lakes (SINELAC). As SINELAC\u2019s directors are nominated by Rwanda, Ndayisaba was appointed by on October 19. He is succeeding Jean Claude Mvuyikongo.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The New Times, Ndayisaba said he is grateful for his new responsibilities of playing part in the development of Rwanda and neighbouring countries as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cElectricity is an important factor in economic development. This institution is in charge of the production and supply of electricity, by maximizing the potential from natural resources such as Rusizi River,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also said he is going to build on the already achieved projects by working together with staff from different countries. \u201cIn order to maintain and develop the different projects that are ongoing through collaboration with our partners by creating a conducive working environment,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He will be based at the headquarters of SINELAC in Bukavu, DRC. SINELAC is one of the specialized institutions of the Economic Community of the Great Lakes Countries (CEPGL), of which three member States (Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo) are equal shareholders.<\/p>\n

It is mandated to operate the 110kv Ruzizi II Hydropower plant and the regional Mururu II substation. Before the appointment, Ndayisaba was the Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) in 2016.<\/p>\n

This institution was phased out recently as the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagementtook shape. Prior to that, Ndayisaba was the Mayor of the City of Kigali for a 5-year term since 2011, where he took responsibility after being the Governor of Southern Province since 2007.
