Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda\u2019s attacking midfielder, Rafael York, has said he will do everything possible to help Amavubi qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n

York who plays for Athletic Football Club Eskilstuna, in Sweden, is optimistic that Rwanda will qualify for AFCON.<\/p>\n

“We are not pleased with past results against Senegal. But against Mozambique, the draw was a much-needed result and overall we played well. We are in a good position and we have shown in past matches that we are ready for the games ahead,\u201d York said.<\/p>\n

Senegal is on top of Group L with six points, Rwanda third with one point while Mozambique is in second with four points and Benin hasn\u2019t got a single point.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old said the team is now looking forward to the next games against Senegal, Benin, and Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cQualifying for AFCON, ultimately, is the target. We are ready, and we are going to do everything to make that happen,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Rwanda drew one game against Mozambique and lost to Senegal 1-0.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the game against Sudan, the manager is trying to get across the information he wants. It\u2019s nice to have a friendly match with the team together as a squad. Hopefully, these two games will help us and give us good conditions for the qualification matches,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can qualify because we have the capacity of doing that and we still have many games to play which can put us in a good position. I am positive we can qualify,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Due to his dual citizenship, York was invited to play for Rwanda’s national football team in 2015. He debuted with Rwanda in a 1\u20130 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification loss to Uganda on October 7, 2021.<\/p>\n
