Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Bank of Kigali has entered a five-year partnership with Agahozo Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) to support the institution in delivering quality education to the students.<\/p>\n

The partnership entails a donation of Rwf 300 million each year from BK to Agahozo Shalom Youth Village to support its mission of transforming the lives of orphaned and vulnerable Rwandan youth through healing, education, and love.<\/p>\n

This was announced on Thursday, October 21 in an event that brought together different delegates from the bank and government agencies at the ASYV premises. Dr Diane Karusisi, Bank of Kigali\u2019s Chief Executive Officer said that the move is one of the bank\u2019s commitment to work on their homegrown solutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese students are often supported by donors from abroad. We decided as a Bank to support Agahozo Shalom Youth Village to achieve its noble objective of providing quality education to its students\u201d. Karusisi also described the development as one of the bank\u2019s Corporate social responsibility to give back to the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur role as a bank is not only registering profits and serving customers, but also to give back to our communities and help the country produce well-rounded individuals who can serve it with more integrity,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

On his part, Jean Claude Nkurikiyimfura, the Executive Director of Agahozo Shalom Youth Village, hailed Bank of Kigali for their move to transform the lives of vulnerable students.<\/p>\n

\u201cBank of Kigali is the very first financial institution that has demonstrated a way to transform lives, not only through finances, but through delivering quality education that the society desires,\u201d noted Nkurikiyimfura.<\/p>\n

He also added that the development will be a power to change the next generations of Agahozo Shalom Youth Village students. One of Agahozo Shalom partners, Bob Gottesman also extended his gratitude to Bank of Kigali for spearheading this commitment to support the school that he called, \u2018a life-changing potential\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am glad to see this motivation, enthusiasm and a sense of humanity demonstrated through Bank of Kigali\u2019s commitment. It has really motivated us to do more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Executive Secretary of the Eastern province, Dr Jeanne Nyirahabimana who was also present, commended Bank of Kigali\u2019s initiative and pledged the possible support to the latter. Since breaking the ground in 2008, more than 1,500 students have passed through Agahozo Shalom and the institution only receives orphan students.<\/p>\n

This is not the first corporate social responsibility initiative of Bank of Kigali in the education sector, as it is also in partnership with Imbuto foundation to support vulnerable students.<\/p>\n
