{"id":31538,"date":"2022-12-15T17:27:49","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T17:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/all-news\/upcountry-schools-outperform-city-schools"},"modified":"2022-12-15T17:51:24","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T17:51:24","slug":"upcountry-schools-outperform-city-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/culture-and-art\/upcountry-schools-outperform-city-schools","title":{"rendered":"Upcountry schools outperform city schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Education has released 2022 senior six national examinations results, with upcountry schools dominating the list of best performing students.<\/p>\n<p>The top six performing schools in general education were, Pt Seminaire Vilgo Fidelis de Butare, Gashora Girls School followed by School of Art, ES Kirinda, GSO de Butare and Cornerstone Leadership Academy.<\/p>\n<p>For Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), IPRC Kigali, Kageyo school World Mission TVET, Rwanda Coding academy, and ASG Karama performed best.<\/p>\n<p>For Teachers Training Centers (TTC) on the hand, TTC Mururu, TTC Save, TTC Rubengera and TTC Rubengera were the best.<\/p>\n<p>The National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), noted that in all levels candidates passed at an average rate of 94.6 per cent, 5.4 failed, while 87.9 per cent got two principal passes and qualified for admissions in universities and other tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time; the new grading system has been used.<\/p>\n<p>Bernard Bahati, the Director General of NESA said that for advanced level or senior six, whether for general education, TVET, or TTCs, the greatest total aggregate was 60.<\/p>\n<p>According to NESA, this year a new grading boundary for national examinations core subjects have been established as follows; from 70 to 100 per cent is described as \u201cExcellent\u201d with a letter grade \u201cA\u201d and Grade Value \u201c6\u201d for each subject.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas 65 to 69 per cent is described as \u201cVery Good\u201d with a letter grade \u201cB\u201d and Grade Value \u201c5\u201d. 60 to 64 per cent marks described as \u201cGood\u201d with a letter grade \u201cC\u201d and Grade Value \u201c4\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The marks ranging from 50 to 59 per cent are described as \u201cSatisfactory\u201d with a letter grade \u201cD\u201d and Grade Value \u201c3\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Scores from 40 to 49 per cent is described as \u201cAdequate\u201d with a letter grade \u201cE\u201d and Grade Value \u201c2\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This was determined by taking into account the importance of each subject in all possible combinations.<\/p>\n<p>For secondary subjects at the Advanced level, a letter grade of \u201cS\u201d and a grade value of \u201c1\u201d indicate \u201cFair\u201d performance, while a letter grade of \u201cF\u201d and a grade value of \u201c0\u201d indicate \u201cFail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bahati said that, \u201cwe are not expecting them to come back and repeat the classes, we expect them to prepare and sit for the exam again they sit for exams as private candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the private candidates were 1, 481.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\">Rwanda<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Rwanda.
