Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Health professionals will continue working as normal despite a reduction of working hours from nine to eight per day, government said.<\/p>\n

The statement released by the Ministry of Health said working hours for health facilities will not change to ensure the continuity of essential healthcare services.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeads of health facilities are urged to continue facilitating staff with special needs and ensure a conducive working environment for effective service delivery,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet meeting headed by President Paul Kagame at Village Urugwiro in November decided to adjust official working hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n

With the new working hours, public servants will have to work 40 hours a week.<\/p>\n

As the health officials retain the working hours, other sectors have already adjusted their working hours.<\/p>\n

For example, in all courts the starting hour of court hearings will now onwards be heard at 9am.<\/p>\n

The adjustments which took effect this year are aimed at improving workplace productivity and the general well-being of Rwandans according to government.<\/p>\n

But health workers are insisting the changes should be equally distributed. They claim that all public servants should enjoy the same benefits. Government has not responded to these demands yet.<\/p>\n
