Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>After seven years of construction, the hotel of football governing body (Ferwafa) is finally complete and is ready to start daily operations before the FIFA Congress takes place in Kigali in March 2023.<\/p>\n

Construction works for the 88-room facility started in August 2015 and were supposed to be completed by the end of 2016 at a cost of Rwf4 billion.<\/p>\n

However, the works were suspended in 2018, when the building reached halfway, due to financial constraints.<\/p>\n

Ferwafa resumed the works in August 2021 with the first phase of the hotel that saw 40 rooms built after FERWAFA received $2.5 million from the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) through FIFA.<\/p>\n

The hotel is now undergoing the final stage of cleaning the rooms and landscaping the exterior part of the facility.<\/p>\n

According to Ferwafa deputy spokesperson Jules Karangwa, everything should be complete this month and the contractor will later hand over the hotel to the federation.<\/p>\n

“We are going to study how it will be managed so that the FIFA Congress that will be held in Kigali on March 16, will find a well-functioning hotel,” Karangwa told Times Sport on Friday, January 6.<\/p>\n

The ground floor contains the reception, two large meeting rooms, two residential suites and two restaurants.<\/p>\n

There is also a parking lot on the top floor. Each floor consists of 10 rooms.<\/p>\n

Ferwafa hotel is part of the FIFA Goal project development programme aimed at helping developing countries to establish infrastructure and facilities to boost the growth of the game.<\/p>\n

Upon completion, the hotel will primarily host the residential camps for national teams of different categories while it will also have offices for rent for various federations which are yet to get their own offices.<\/p>\n

With the first phase now done, another 48 rooms will be constructed in other phases.<\/p>\n

The hotel is built at the premises formerly occupied by the national police adjacent to the Ferwafa headquarters in Remera.<\/p>\n
