Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The national women\u2019s basketball team head coach, Cheikh Sarr, has summoned a 17-woman provisional roster of only local players to start preparations for the FIBA Women\u2019s AfroBasket Zone V Qualifiers.<\/p>\n

The regional qualifiers are scheduled to take place from February 14-19 at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.<\/p>\n

According to the local basketball govern body (FERWABA), the players will training Stecol court starting Friday, January 6, in order to engage local players in intensive training such that they can elevate their competition level before they are joined by professional players ahead of the Afrobasket competition.<\/p>\n

Rwanda will join hosts Uganda Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia who all confirmed their participation for the qualifiers looking to book a ticket to the Women\u2019s AfroBasket 2023 finals that will take place from July 26 to August 6 in Kigali, Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The national team already have an automatic ticket as hosts but coach Sarr wants to use the competition as an opportunity to put his women through their paces earlier to get them ready for the finals.<\/p>\n
