Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The 2023 edition of the Peace Cup, Rwanda\u2019s second biggest football tournament, will kick off on February 7, the football governing body (Ferwafa) has announced.<\/p>\n

The annual tournament attracts top flight and second tier league teams where the champions book a ticket to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.<\/p>\n

AS Kigali won last season\u2019s Peace Cup after beating rivals APR 1-0 in the final at Kigali Stadium back in June 2022.<\/p>\n

The league leaders will be hoping to defend the title again and win it for a record three times in a row when this year\u2019s Peace Cup takes action.<\/p>\n

Interested teams now have until January 20 to have registered to take part in this year\u2019s edition as indicated in a press statement released by Ferwafa on Monday.<\/p>\n

The federation will take care of some financial burden from participating teams by paying travel expenses and ambulance fees for them.<\/p>\n

This year’s Peace Cup will start with the preliminaries before teams head to the two-leg knockout stages starting from the round of 32.<\/p>\n
