Rwanda Energy Group Women basketball club go head-to-head with The Hoops Rwanda on Friday in game 1 of the best-of-three playoff finals at Kigali Arena.<\/p>\n

It will be a clash of egos between the two sides in the national women basketball league with The Hoops\u2019 heads held high as they look to start their title defense while REG seek to win a league title in their debut season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to win this [league] title, and we are going to fight for it no matter what,\u201d vowed Esperance Mukaneza, head coach of REG women BBC.<\/p>\n

Our target is to win the first game and then build on that momentum for the next match.<\/p>\n

We need to be at our best in the first game which will give us an advantage in the next game,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

In separate interview with head coach of the Hoops Patrick Habiyambere said that \u201cThis is the closest we have ever been to the league title, and my players understand well how important these games are.<\/p>\n

We will approach each as a do-or-die affair.<\/p>\n

\u201d<\/p>\n

The finals will be played in a \u201cbest of three series\u201d format where the two opponents will play two games against each other, and if one wins both, it will be declared champion.<\/p>\n

Should they get tied on one win each, they will play a third match which will be the ultimate decider of who will claim this year\u2019s title.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, defending champions Patriots resume their rivalry with REG at Kigali Arena on Friday, October 29, as they face off in game one of the men\u2019s Basketball league finals from which the champions will win an automatic ticket to represent Rwanda at next season\u2019s Basketball Africa League which returns in Kigali next year.<\/p>\n
