Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>ConsTruck Limited, a subsidiary of NPD Limited on Friday, February 10, launched new machinery worth Rwf 7.3 billion that will be used in implementing the Kigali Infrastructure Project.<\/p>\n

The Kigali Infrastructure Project (KIP) is a scheme under which the City of Kigali will construct 57 new roads, covering an area of 215.6km, within a period of four years.<\/p>\n

The newly launched machinery includes 31 excavators and 10 trucks, in addition to 20 more trucks that will be brought into the country soon.<\/p>\n

Already, ConsTruck had over 106 heavy duty machines including bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, motor graders, asphalt paver machines, pneumatic compactors, soil compactors, forklifts, among others, in addition to 129 trucks.<\/p>\n

During an event held to officially inaugurate the new equipment at ConsTruck\u2019s offices in Jabana, Lambert Nyoni, the Managing Director of ConsTruck, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new equipment will help us in the journey of developing infrastructure in our country. Infrastructure is one of the key pillars for fast and sustainable development of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAlongside NPD, we pledge to prove infrastructure development is not a specialty for expatriates. We want to show everyone that Rwandans can do it and do it well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Jean Gatarayiha, the Managing Director of NPD Limited said the new equipment will not only be beneficial for the Kigali Infrastructure Project, but for other upcoming projects in general.<\/p>\n

Merard Mpabwanamaguru, the Vice-Mayor in charge of Urbanisation and Infrastructure at the City of Kigali spoke about the importance of the KIP scheme.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Kigali Infrastructure Project is something for which the residents of the city are excited about, because it will improve their standard of living. It will especially contribute to the city\u2019s economy as well as that of the country in general because roads are a catalyst for development.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Minister of Infrastructure, Ernest Nsabimana noted that the ambitions that the country has in regards to infrastructure require it to have such heavy duty equipment.<\/p>\n

He urged ConsTruck and NPD to do their work with a high level of professionalism.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou may have equipment and workers, but what is really more important is that you do your work in a professional way. You can have 100 trucks, 200 excavators, and 300 engineers; but without professionalism, you may end up not achieving what you have to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n\r\n
