Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Sunrise FC have thrown their weight behind head coach Innocent Seninga despite the club’s exit from the Peace Cup.<\/p>\n

Seninga was suspended a fortnight ago following a string of poor results, stirring reports that he was on brink of the sack after assistant coach Evariste Ntamugabumwe inherited the team during the gaffer\u2019s suspension.<\/p>\n

He, however, returned to the touchline over the weekend when Sunrise lost to Rwamagana City 2-0 in the league.<\/p>\n

Seninga pulled a surprise by beating Police FC 1-0 in Wednesday\u2019s Peace Cup round of 16 match at Muhanga Stadium although his side failed to qualify to the quarter finals on away goal rule.<\/p>\n

Despite the club’s elimination from the tournament, club Secretary General Frank Kahangwa insists Seninga did well against Police and vowed to continue to support him after the suspension.<\/p>\n

“Hard luck cost us against Police FC. We were leading 1-0 and we had a 90th minute penalty but we missed it. It was a good performance from Seninga because we had a chance of winning.” Kahangwa said during an interview with Times Sport.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the coach\u2019s return from suspension, Kahangwa said that the club remains focused to see the coach bring the team back on track and deliver good results during the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

“The contract clause remains the same, he has to perform as expected.” He said.<\/p>\n

Seninga will be looking forward to his first league win on his return when Sunrise FC travel to Huye ahead of Saturday\u2019s tie with Mukura Victory Sports.<\/p>\n
