Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda National Police (RNP) struck yet another gold medal in the EAPCCO Games after hosts\u2019 basketball team beat Tanzania 96-37 in Saturday\u2019s final held at Lycee De Kigali.<\/p>\n

The RNP basketball team followed the example of their volleyball and football counterparts who also won gold medals during the regional interforce Games which conclude at BK Arena on Monday.<\/p>\n

Rwanda also topped the overall table standings in karate with 15 medals, including nine gold, five silver, and one bronze.<\/p>\n

Burundi came second while Kenya emerged third.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Handball team started their title defense impressively with a 36-25 victory over Kenya Police Service (KPS) at BK Arena on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The RNP team was fired up throughout the first half, putting up an entertaining display from which they scored 20 goals against Kenya\u2019s 10.<\/p>\n

It was, however, a tight second period as Rwanda scored 16 more goals against Kenya\u2019s 15 to finish the match with a 36-25 victory in favor of the home side.<\/p>\n

Both teams could not convert the two awarded penalties, thanks to each of their goalkeepers\u2019 incredible exploits.<\/p>\n

Mbesutunguwe scored a game-high 10 goals to guide Rwanda to a well-deserved victory.<\/p>\n

Kenya Police Service take on Uganda Police Force (UPF) on Sunday while Rwanda will return to action on Monday with clash against Uganda.<\/p>\n

EAPCCO Games started on Tuesday, March 21, attracting eight out of 14 member states to compete in 13 different sports disciplines.<\/p>\n

The sports disciplines include football, handball, netball, volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, athletics, darts, Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, boxing, and shooting.<\/p>\n

Participating countries are Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and the host, Rwanda.<\/p>\n
