Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Rwandan community in Mozambique has donated $20,596, (roughly Rwf 20 million) to support the payment of the community health insurance Mutuelle de Sante for vulnerable citizens across the country.<\/p>\n

The donation was received by Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) officials at their headquarters on April 3.<\/p>\n

The envoy of Rwanda to Mozambique, Claude Nikobisanzwe, said the donation is in line with the efforts of the diaspora to support the country\u2019s development and contribute to the well-being of Rwandans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe support was contributed by various Rwandans living in Mozambique to help fellow Rwandans who are vulnerable and unable to pay the insurance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nikobisanzwe pointed out that the donation is a small token but they hope for more to boost the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love our country and we want to contribute to building it,\u201d he noted, adding that this was the first time their community showed support in that way and also highlighted that the mobilisation is still ongoing to support more families in coming years.<\/p>\n

RSSB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Regis Rugemanshuro, commended the community for their contribution towards supporting vulnerable citizens and ensuring proper delivery to the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate this generous gesture, and we will ensure that the donation is distributed effectively with the help of various institutions such as the Ministry of Local Government and Ministry of Health. These institutions will assist in identifying those who are eligible to receive the donation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the current payment for Mutuelle de Sante in the year 2022-2023 is a significantly larger number compared to previous years, at 89.8 per cent.<\/p>\n

Regarding the broader picture of Mutualle de Sante, it was pointed out that there are ongoing changes that will result in improvements to the insurance system. These improvements will include an increase in the budget and an expansion of the number of diseases that are covered.<\/p>\n
