AS Kigali women football club clinched their record 12th women football league title after a resounding 5-0 victory over IPM WFC in an encounter held at Kimisagara football ground on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The victory saw the defending champions move to 50 points in 21 matches, four points clear of second-placed Inyemera with just one match remaining to play before the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Unlike the previous seasons, the City of Kigali-sponsored giants faced one of the biggest challenges to the title in years as they had to deal with immense pressure from their closest rivals Inyemera made them wait until Saturday to retain the title with one match to go.<\/p>\n

AS Kigali was recently hit with financial crisis that could have cost them the title until their main sponsor intervened and paid the players after they refused to play until they were paid all<\/p>\n

their due wages.<\/p>\n

Arguably the most decorated women football club in Rwanda, AS will be crowned champions on Sunday, April 23 when they face Kayonza WFC in their last league game.<\/p>\n

The title means that the champions will represent Rwanda at African women\u2019s club football next season.<\/p>\n
