Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Kiyovu Sports skipper Yves Kimenyi says he and his teammates want to write history with the club for future generations to come and appreciate.<\/p>\n

Burundian Ismail Nshimirimana\u2019s early strike helped the Green Baggies defeat Musanze FC 1-0 at Ubworoherane Stadium on Sunday, May 7, a victory that put the club in pole position to lift their first league title in 30 years.<\/p>\n

The Mumena-based side now needs just four points from their final two games to be crowned champions and Kimenyi, who made crucial saves to keep his team ahead against Musanze,is positive that the team is ready to create a new story and end their 30-year trophy drought.<\/p>\n

“We want to achieve something big, last year, we lost the trophy. It was a big mistake but this year, we want to make our fans happy,” Kimenyi told Times Sport in a post-match interview on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“The trophy will be a big thing for us. It will be big on our CV. We want to write a big history so that our children will come and see it.”<\/p>\n

The win over Musanze did not come on a silver platter especially as the Ubworoherane Stadium pitch was not in the best of shape.<\/p>\n

The agile goalkeeper reiterated that they are used to such pitches and there was no way it was going to affect them.<\/p>\n

“We have played a lot on pitches like this one so we have such experience and we went all out,” he added.<\/p>\n

Kiyovu, who last won the league trophy in 1993, are now leading the table with 60 points, three points clear of second-placed APR FC while Rayon Sports, who lost 3-1 at the hands of Gorilla FC, dropped to third with 55 points.<\/p>\n

Alain-Andre\u0301 Landeut’s side still has two tests to pass for them to be crowned champions. They include a trip to Nyagatare next weekend to face Sunrise, a team they lost 2-1 to in the first round of the league. They will wind up the campaign with a home game against relegation strugglers Rutsiro FC.<\/p>\n
