Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The national football team goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwali has described his debut as \u2018brilliant\u2019 despite Amavubi\u2019s failure to make the most of a dominant performance in Monday\u2019s loss 2-1 in the Group E World Cup qualifier against Kenya.<\/p>\n

The goalkeeper, who plays for AS Kigali, was handed his first start when Rwanda played the last world cup qualifier game against Kenya. The 22-year-old admitted that the result was far from what he would have liked on his debut.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an amazing feeling to pull on the shirt and play my first game for my country. It was a fantastic occasion and there aren\u2019t many bigger games I could have come into for my first one. I now hope to work harder and cement my place in the team,\u201d Ntwali said.<\/p>\n

Ntwali started his career at the APR FC football academy in 2015 at the age of 16 and was later promoted to the senior team in 2018. Ntwali helped APR FC win the 2019-2020 league trophy and other cup competitions before switching to AS Kigali this season.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the win, however, had no bearing on Kenya’s hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as those dreams had been ended by Mali. The West African country is through to the next round of the qualifiers. Kenya finished the campaign in third with six points behind neighbors Uganda – while Rwanda finished bottom with just a point.<\/p>\n
