Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Che\u0301rubin Okende, an opposition member of the DR Congo national assembly, was found dead on Thursday, July 13, in Kinshasa.<\/p>\n The body of the former transport minister was found in his car with wounds and his shirt stained in blood, local media reports say. Okende, who was the spokesperson for the opposition party, Ensemble pour la Republic, went missing earlier on Wednesday.<\/p>\n President Felix Tshisekedi\u2019s office said he \u201clearned with dismay, this morning, of the disappearance in tragic conditions of\u201d Okende.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Head of State presents his condolences to the family and loved ones of the Honorable Okende,\u201d the office tweeted.<\/p>\n Tshisekedi urged the judiciary \u201cto shed light on this case in order to punish the culprits of this despicable act.\u201d<\/p>\n Okende was a senior executive in the party whose leader, Moise Katumbi, declared himself as candidate for the presidential elections due in December 2023.<\/p>\n The incident was a \u201ccowardly kidnapping\u201d that happened on Wednesday afternoon \u201cin the parking area of the Constitutional Court,\u201d the party said on Twitter.<\/p>\n \u201cOur country is getting worse and worse!\u201d the party added.<\/p>\n The Congolese government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya said Okende\u2019s murder was a \u201cheinous act,\u201d and added that the government \u201cinstructed all security services to diligently carry out a thorough investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n DR Congo has seen increasing violence in the lead-up to the December polls.<\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About Rwanda<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Moise M.
