Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique and Senegal women’s basketball teams are in town just a week before the highly-anticipated 2023 African women\u2019s Basketball championship kick off at BK Arena on Friday, July 28.<\/p>\n Mozambique are pooled in Group B alongside Cameroon and Guinea. Their journey begins on Friday, July 28, where they will face Cameroon before taking on Guinea the following day.<\/p>\n Prior to the championship, Mozambican forward Tamara Seda, recognized the challenge awaiting her team which aims to elevate their performance from the previous edition where Senegal secured the fourth position.<\/p>\n “Our goal is to try to do better than we did in the past edition. As one of the vets in the group, my focus is to try to help the team and young girls as much as I can on and off the court,” Seda said.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Senegal’s path to victory lies in Group C, where they will face Uganda, on Saturday, July 29 and Mali on July 30.<\/p>\n Aya Traore, two-time MVP of the Women’s AfroBasket, expressed her determination to help Senegal secure their first African Championship title since 2015.<\/p>\n Traore acknowledged the significant growth in the competitiveness level of African basketball, citing Uganda’s historic qualification as a testament to the sport’s development.<\/p>\n “The home team is drawn in Group A – and we all know the advantages of playing at home. Angola will surely try to perform better than in recent times. We will have an interesting match-up against Cameroon, and am looking forward to finding out who the wildcard team will be,” Traore told FIBA website.<\/p>\n “Our goal has always been to try to secure a place on the podium, and this time won’t be any different. My role is to help my country the best way possible to reach our goal,” she affirmed<\/p>\n\r\n
