Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Today, the youth of Rwanda stand as a driving force for unity and sustainable development in the country, thanks to visionary leadership and empowerment through knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n This sentiment was emphasized by the Rwanda Defence Forces Deputy Spokesperson Lt. Col. Simon Kabera on Sunday, July 23, during the ‘Youth for Rwanda’ (YFR) event. The gathering, which took place at Hilltop Hotel, brought together students from various universities with the aim of empowering and inspiring the next generation of leaders.<\/p>\n The event was held under the theme ‘Building a sustainable and inclusive future’. Kabera took the audience on a journey through Rwanda’s history, highlighting how the nation had emerged from the devastation of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 to become a beacon of hope and progress.<\/p>\n He attributed this transformation to the spirit of resilience and unity embraced by the nation, stressing the importance of sustainable development in ensuring lasting peace and prosperity.<\/p>\n “Precious peace was not easily attained; it required sacrifices and efforts from many individuals. It is everyone\u2019s responsibility to maintain it, not solely resting on the military’s shoulders,” remarked Kabera.<\/p>\n He further urged the youth to unleash their creativity and innovative potential, encouraging them to contribute actively to Rwanda’s progress and prosperity. Kabera believes that such efforts will propel the nation further on its path of development and transformation.<\/p>\n Amb Joseph Mutaboba speaks at the event<\/p>\n Ambassador Joseph Mutaboba, a retired Rwandan diplomat, shared his perspective on sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of strong will from both the people and the leadership. He encouraged the youth to foster a sense of diversity and unity, which would facilitate collaboration towards achieving sustainable development.<\/p>\n During interactive sessions, students engaged in thought-provoking discussions about their visions for Rwanda’s future. Passionate debates on leadership and security, financial inclusion, innovation, and entrepreneurship showcased the participants’ commitment to driving positive change in their communities.<\/p>\n Devota Uwase, the Vice President of Youth for Rwanda, said that the youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but leaders of today. She expressed her belief in building a Rwanda that is economically prosperous and socially inclusive, where every voice is heard, and no one is left behind.<\/p>\n Officials with participants pose for a group photo<\/p>\n YFR, established in 2018, is a Rwandan youth development and Non-Government Organization with more than 200 members. The initiative aims to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among participants from diverse academic backgrounds.<\/p>\n\r\n
