Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>FIBA Africa, the governing body for basketball on the continent, has confirmed that Rwanda will host the Africa Zone Five Club 2023 Championship scheduled between October to November in Kigali.<\/p>\n The competition will bring together nine women\u2019s basketball clubs from different countries in the FIBA Zone V including: Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia and the hosts Rwanda.<\/p>\n The tournament acts as a qualifier for the 2023 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women which will take place in Egypt on December 8 through 17, bringing together 10 women\u2019s basketball clubs from all over the continent.<\/p>\n Last year, APR women\u2019s basketball team represented Rwanda at the continental showpiece, finishing in eighth place out of 10 clubs.<\/p>\n Fionah Ishimwe, the Executive Director at the Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) told Times Sport that the Africa Zone Five Club Championship will be taking place in the country, but they are waiting for FIBA to specify the dates on which it will take place between October and November.<\/p>\n Rwanda expects to be represented at the tournament by the team that will claim this year\u2019s local league trophy.
