Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>A delegation of Mozambican officials headed by Mocimboa da Praia district administrator Sergio Domingo Cypriano on Friday, August 18, made a familiarisation visit to Rwanda Security Force headquarters in Cabo Delgado province.<\/p>\n Cypriano was accompanied by Director of the State Information and Security Service Zito Navaca, District Police head of operations Senior Superintendent Januario Joa\u0303o Jagaia, Navy Commander Maj Albertino Nabelo, Chita Battalion Commander Izi\u0300dro Periacela and Local Force Commander Celestino Peliduos.<\/p>\n They were received by Maj Gen Alexis Kagame, the Joint Task Force Commander of the Rwandan security forces in Mozambique, along with other officers.<\/p>\n Kagame briefed the delegation on the security situation in the Rwandan forces\u2019 area of responsibility, particularly in Mocimboa da Praia.<\/p>\n According to a statement by Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), the District Administrator said the purpose of the visit was to thank the Rwandan Security Force for the good work done in fighting terrorists and to request them to continue intensifying military operations in the district of Mocimboa.<\/p>\n \u201cHe stressed that the collaboration between Rwanda Security Force and Mozambique Forces is excellent and has rebuilt confidence in Mozambican people to return to their normal lives,\u201d the RDF said.<\/p>\n The district administrator further pledged continued commitment to enable the Rwanda Security Forces to accomplish their mission.<\/p>\n At the request of the Mozambican government, in July 2021 Rwanda deployed military and police officers to Cabo Delgado, where Islamist terrorists had wreaked havoc for half a decade, killing thousands of civilians and displacing hundreds of thousands more.<\/p>\n Within the first month, Rwandan and Mozambican troops repulsed the terrorists from major strongholds.<\/p>\n By September 2022, more than 130,000 Cabo Delgado residents had returned to their villages in areas where Rwandan and host nation forces operate together.<\/p>\n The delegation was received by Maj Gen Alexis Kagame, the Joint Task Force Commander of the Rwandan security forces in Mozambique, along with other officers.<\/p>\n\r\n
