Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Seasoned coach Henry Mwinuka is set to complete a sensational return to Ugandan side KIU Titans as new head coach.<\/p>\n The Tanzanian coach is set for unveiling at as the club intensifies preparations for the upcoming National Basketball League playoffs.<\/p>\n The tactician, who has been coaching Rwandan basketball powerhouse Patriots during the just-concluded 2023 season, moves back to a team he peviously served as a player and coach between 2011 and 2015.<\/p>\n In August, the Titans confirmed the appointment of tactician Carey \u2018T9\u2019 Odhiambo as their head coach but the Kenyan reportedly turned down the offer due to his busy schedule.<\/p>\n Mwinuka has been in the Uganda since last week where he led a couple of training sessions with the club.<\/p>\n He is returning to the club for the first time since his departure back in December 2015, when he joined Patriots before having stints with Rwanda Energy Group and Rwanda\u2019s national basketball team.<\/p>\n Before moving to Uganda in 2011, Mwinuka was a player at University of Dar es Salaam (2003-2006) and Savio Basketball Club (2007-2008) before he became assistant coach of the Tanzanian national team (2009-2010).<\/p>\n He is one of the most respected coaches in the East African region having won five league titles in the Rwandan League \u2013 three with Patriots and two with REG.<\/p>\n He will be working with Julius Lutwama at KIU Titans, hoping that the Kansanga-based side wins their maiden league title.<\/p>\n KIU finished the regular season in third position with 17 wins out of 22 games and are potential candidates to dethrone defending league champions City Oilers when the Playoffs get underway.<\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About Rwanda<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Damas Sikubwabo Africa-Press – Rwanda.
