Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR FC travel to Egypt on Tuesday, September 26, ahead of the second leg game against Pyramids of Egypt, looking to win the game and qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages.<\/p>\n

APR\u2019s hopes of making it to the group stage of the CAF Champions League were dealt a major blow after recording a goalless draw with Egyptian side Pyramids FC during the competition\u2019s second-round first leg held at Kigali Pele\u0301 Stadium on September 17.<\/p>\n

The second leg is slated for Friday, September 29, and Thierry Froger\u2019s side is in a buoyant mood. The coach believes his team is capable of turning the tables.<\/p>\n

Froger\u2019s team needs to win the game by at least a goal or draw with any goal margin so that they can qualify for the group stages for the first time.<\/p>\n

The Rwandan champions struggled against Pyramids in the first leg, Pyramids FC’s inaugural appearance in the prestigious competition.<\/p>\n

APR has never reached the group stages of Africa\u2019s premier football club competition.<\/p>\n

Out of the last 10 meetings with northern African clubs, APR only won twice. In most cases, they have endured heavy defeats at the hands of north African opponents.<\/p>\n

APR\u2019s best campaign in Africa’s premier club competition was during the 2004 season when they reached the third round under the stewardship of the late Jean Marie Ntagwabira.<\/p>\n
