Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>IHS Rwanda, which is part of New York Stock Exchange-listed IHS Holding Group (IHS Towers), one of the largest independent owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure in the world by tower count, on Tuesday, October 10, established a partnership with UNICEF to promote digital literacy, environmental preservation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n In partnership with UNICEF Rwanda, IHS Rwanda will support the planting of 10,000 trees in 10 schools with a combined population of approximately 10,000 students.<\/p>\n The project aims to help mitigate climate change and protect local ecosystems while raising environmental awareness among students and local communities, IHS Rwanda said in a statement.<\/p>\n In addition, in partnership with the Government of Rwanda, IHS Rwanda will donate over 100 laptops to three schools as part of the Giga initiative. Giga is a partnership between UNICEF\u2019s Office of Innovation and the International Telecommunications Union\u2019s (ITU) Telecommunications Development Bureau, which aims to connect every school in the world to the internet by 2030. The donation seeks to help increase access to digital learning tools for teachers and approximately 3,000 students.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to join hands with UNICEF in this important endeavour to promote sustainability and digital literacy in Rwandan schools,\u201d said IHS Towers\u2019 Head of Sub-Saharan Africa Region, Kunle Iluyemi.<\/p>\n \u201cOur commitment to education and environmental preservation aligns with this project’s goals, and we look forward to helping raise awareness of environmental issues and delivering meaningful impact on the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n UNICEF\u2019s Country Representative Julianna Lindsey said: \u201cClimate change has direct and indirect impacts on children’s rights to health, life, dignity, and education.
