Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women\u2019s basketball team head coach Esperance Mukaneza has said that her team\u2019s eyes are only set on winning the Africa Zone V Club Championship which is due in Kigali from October 28 to November 4.<\/p>\n

REG will, alongside league champions APR, be representing Rwanda at the basketball tournament which will attract 10 teams from six countries in the region.<\/p>\n

Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan will also be represented in the competition.<\/p>\n

“Last year we finished in fourth place but we now have the goal of winning this tournament,\u201d Mukaneza told Times Sport on Tuesday, October 10.<\/p>\n

The 2023 women basketball league runners-up are currently training at Lyce\u0301e de Kigali Gymnasium as they gear up for the tournament.<\/p>\n

“The players are fine,\u201d she said, adding that the club plans to add two international players before the competition begins.<\/p>\n

\u201cTeams are allowed to use four international players and I only have two for now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Africa Zone 5 Club Championship was initially scheduled to take place from October 21-28, before FIBA Africa rescheduled it from October 28 through November 4.<\/p>\n

The tournament acts as a qualifier for the 2023 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women which will take place in Egypt, from December 8 to 17, bringing together 10 women\u2019s basketball clubs from all over the continent.<\/p>\n

South Sudan: Nile Legends<\/p>\n

Uganda: JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons<\/p>\n

Burundi: Gladiators<\/p>\n

Kenya: Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Equity Bank basketball club.<\/p>\n
