Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Striker Ernest Sugira has played down reports suggesting that he has retired from international football.<\/p>\n

Sugira, 32, has not featured for Amavubi since the 2-0 defeat to Guinea in an international friendly on January 6, 2022, sparking speculations that he has retired from the national team.<\/p>\n

However, the striker, who has an impressive goal scoring record for Rwanda where he netted 12 goals in 32 matches, says he is still available for selection.<\/p>\n

“People who are saying that I have retired from the national team have no information about me. It is just rumors. I have not retired,” Sugira told Weekend Sport.<\/p>\n

The Rwanda international is out of contract since he left Syrian outfit Al Wahda Damascus when his deal expired on June 30.<\/p>\n

He has been spending his time in Kigali as he is yet to find a new club.<\/p>\n

“I will join a new team next month [November]. My choice is obviously a foreign team but I will still consider the local league as plan B,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sugira previously played for APR, Rayon Sports, AS Kigali and AS Muhanga in Rwanda as well as Congolese outfit AS Vita Club of Congo to mention a few.<\/p>\n
