Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Kigali, Rwanda \u2013 10 October 2023: Huawei Technologies (Rwanda) Ltd today announced the successful completion of its Technical Training of Trainers (ToT) programme for ICT TVET teachers. The programme, which trained 110 teachers in the latest technologies and trending practices in Software Development (SWD), Computer Systems & Architecture (CSA), and Networking & Internet Technologies (NIT) trades, was held at the Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) in Muhima and Muhanga campuses.<\/p>\n

Rwanda TVET Board is a government institution with the mission to promote quality education in technical and vocational education and training from level one (1) to level five (5) of the Rwanda TVET Qualification Framework (RQF). Among other responsibilities, RTB coordinates and fast-tracks technical and vocational education and training programmes and activities, and coordinates programmes and activities, to ensure teachers\u2019 development and build their capacities and monitor their management.<\/p>\n

It is against the above background that Rwanda TVET Board and Huawei joined efforts to build the capacity of TVET teachers, whereby Huawei will train 212 TVET teachers in ICT trades with the latest technologies and trending practices. This will ensure that they can deliver teaching curriculum that have been recently reviewed and aligned with new technologies and trending practices in Software Development (SWD), Computer Systems & Architecture (CSA) and Networking & Internet Technologies (NIT) trades.<\/p>\n

The technical training was organised by HUAWEI Head Office in Rwanda with the possibility of a field visit when deemed necessary. The TVET teachers were grouped in four of 45-55 teachers. The first group training was received at Rwanda management Institute (Muhima Campus) on 24-28 July 2023. The training was conducted by HUAWEI team teachers and subject matter experts. It was delivered face-to-face in consecutive sessions at RMI\u2019s training centre.<\/p>\n

The second group comprising 55 trainees was received on 25-29 September 2023 for five days of intense training. For this round there was some spicing done, a new model of training was adapted. In order to provide the perfect training atmosphere, the trainees were taken to RMI (Muhanga campus) for five days retreat, nourishing them with the latest technology modules.<\/p>\n

The programme was designed to help teachers deliver effective training to students in the revised ICT trades, which are aligned with the new technologies and trending practices in the industry. The training covered both theoretical and practical aspects, using state-of-the-art equipment, tools\/software, and simulations.<\/p>\n

The programme was well-received by the participants, who praised the quality of the training and the expertise of the instructors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe training was very informative and comprehensive,\u201d said one participant. \u201cI learned a lot about the latest technologies and trending practices in my field. I am confident that I can now deliver more effective training to my students.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another participant added, \u201cThis programme was a great opportunity for me to learn from experienced instructors and to network with other teachers in my field. I am grateful to Huawei for providing me with this opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The completion of the Technical ToT programme is a significant milestone in Huawei\u2019s commitment to social outreach and capacity-building in Rwanda. The programme is expected to have a positive impact on the quality of TVET education and workforce development in the country.<\/p>\n

Huawei is committed to its social outreach responsibility whereby it gives back to communities through various activities including human capacity building. The Technical ToT programme is one of the many ways in which Huawei is supporting the development of Rwanda\u2019s ICT sector.<\/p>\n
