Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda\u2019s national Taekwondo team \u2018Kyorugi\u2019 on Thursday night left the country for Abidjan, Co\u0302te d’Ivoire, where they are expected to take part in the African Tekwondo Championship scheduled from November 4-5.<\/p>\n The team, coached by Korean Master JI-Man Jeong, has been undergoing intensive training over the past three weeks before flying to Abidjan for the G4-level Taekwondo event. They departed Kigali International Airport on Thursday night 1.45am aboard Ethiopian Airlines.<\/p>\n ALSO READ<\/b>: Rwanda to host 2022 African Taekwondo Championships<\/p>\n Outstanding athletes from this year’s African Championship will be able to score points that can help them boost their chance of landing a ticket to the 2024 Olympic Games which will take place in Paris, France.<\/p>\n At least 21 countries will be represented at this year\u2019s African Taekwondo Championship. They include Rwanda, hosts Cote d\u2019Ivoire, Kenya, Sudan, Central African Republic, Egypt, Senegal, Somalia, Eswatini, Ghana, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, The Gambia, Chad, Botswana, Madagascar, Lesotho, Niger, Djibouti, Burkina Faso and Morocco.<\/p>\n The last African Championship was held in Kigali last year and despite hosting the championship, Rwanda managed to win a bronze medal in Kyorugi and came third in Poomsae.<\/p>\n At the time, Egypt topped of the medal rankings with 116 medals including 48 golds, 33 silvers and 35 bronzes.<\/p>\n Rwandan team to Cote d\u2019Ivoire<\/p>\n 1.
