Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Saturday<\/p>\n Final<\/p>\n REG 53-87 KPA<\/p>\n Kenya\u2019s KPA were crowned champions of the 2023 FIBA Zone V Women\u2019s Championship, following Saturday\u2019s 87-53 comfortable victory over home side REG in the final held at a sold-out Lyce\u0301e de Kigali Gymnasium.<\/p>\n ALSO READ REG, KPA qualify for FIBA Africa Champions Cup<\/p>\n In a tightly contested final, KPA took the first quarter 22-16, and second quarter 22-14 to head into half-time with a 44-30 lead in favor of the Kenyans.<\/p>\n Center Madinja Okoto and Victoria Reynolds formed an unstoppable combination which instantly improved their attacking intent, hence winning the third quarter 18-13, and the fourth 25-10 to bag a much-deserved win despite playing away from home.<\/p>\n Reynolds led KPA\u2019s scorings with a game high 23 points in the final and was as a result awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.<\/p>\n It\u2019s an achievement that excited champions\u2019 coach Antony Ojukwu Oloo.<\/p>\n \u201cWell I want to thank my players and my staff, we are many, some of them couldn’t make it to Rwanda,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Besides the trophy, KPA will, alongside REG, represent the Zone V in the 2023 FIBA Africa Champions Cup that will take place in Egypt from December 8-17.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, APR women, another Rwandan side, crashed out of the competition following a shock 58-75 quarterfinal defeat to Uganda\u2019s JKL Lady Dolphins on Thursday.<\/p>\n REG players celebrate their second position in the Zone V Competition.<\/p>\n Kenya\u2019s KPA champions of the 2023 FIBA Zone V Women\u2019s Championship,<\/p>\n\r\n
