Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Rwanda Tennis Federation, on Friday, December 3, provided equipment to schools in Bugesera district, in a bid to promote the game among youngsters. The equipment includes 25 rackets, 96 balls and two nets.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the development, Richard Mutabazi, the Mayor of Bugesera District said he was pleased with the partnership with the federation, assuring them of support in promoting the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate this support. We assure you that we will support this program as much as possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the district has good grounds for the development of the game, for example schools where tennis can be played, in addition to private sector facilities which have tennis courts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of schools in the area. We have the infrastructure, except for a stadium. We also have a private sector, for example, hotels that have built their own tennis courts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Theoneste Karenzi, the President of the Rwanda Tennis Association told Times Sport that the reason for the support was to promote young tennis talents.<\/p>\n

It is part of the Juniors Tennis Initiative (JTI) Program, an initiative that the federation embarked on to appeal youngsters in various parts of the country to play the game.<\/p>\n

“So we have introduced this program in various schools in Bugesera because they were the ones who expressed interest first,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
