Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Canal Plus Rwanda and Rayon Sports have signed a one-year partnership renewal, extending their collaboration until October 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony took place at Canal + Rwanda headquarters in Kigali on Friday, December 1. This marks the third year of partnership between the two parties, with the initial agreement signed in 2021.<\/p>\n

Sophie Tchatchoua, the Managing Director of Canal Plus Rwanda, expressed her delight in renewing the partnership with the most popular football club in Rwanda.<\/p>\n

She described the past two years as a great success for both sides.<\/p>\n

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Rayon Sports. The past two years have been a success, and that’s why we decided to extend for one more year,” said Tchatchoua.<\/p>\n

Rayon Sports, known for having the largest fan base in the country, with an estimated three million supporters, has been striving to leverage this support to attract corporate sponsorships.<\/p>\n

Jean-Fidele Uwayezu, the Chairman of Rayon Sports, spoke about the club’s financial stability and the need for consistent revenue to support their projects.<\/p>\n

“When I took on the role of club president, three years ago, our first ambition was to ensure the financial stability of our team.<\/p>\n

\u201cRayon Sports, being a fans-owned team, needs its reliable source of revenue,” Uwayezu stated during a press conference on Friday.<\/p>\n

Rayon Sports recently announced a budget of approximately Rwf1 billion for the 2023\/24 season.<\/p>\n

Uwayezu said that the new contract with Canal Plus is worth more than the previous one although specific details were kept confidential.<\/p>\n

“I can’t specifically mention the exact worth of this new contract due to confidentiality reasons, but what I can say is that it’s bigger than last year,” said Uwayezu.<\/p>\n

In addition to financial support, Canal Plus provides subscriptions for 45 Rayon Sports first-team players and committee members, as well as decoders and other equipment.<\/p>\n

Festive season<\/p>\n
