Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>START-up SADC, the largest entrepreneurship gathering in southern African region, will host a convention in South Africa’s Sun City in early March.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThe event is created to serve as a networking platform, access to venture capital and cross collaboration for start-ups, as well as small medium enterprises (SMEs) in the region,\u201d Namibian coordinator for Start-up SADC Zened Sali told The Namibian yesterday.<\/p>\n

Sali said the conference will take place annually, and the aim is to eventually host it in other countries in the region. Sali emphasised that Start-up SADC is a conducive platform for both entrepreneurs and corporate companies in the region to work together in developing the SME sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cStart-up SADC is not limited to SADC entrepreneurs and SMEs only; it is open to other potential participants from across Africa,\u201d Sali said, however, participants outside SADC will be conference delegates and can participate in two-day masterclasses, but they will not be allowed to participate in the Start-up SADC competitions and other related incentives.<\/p>\n

Sali said the conference is a deliberate intervention that seeks to promote action-driven solutions to solve southern Africa’s most pressing issues through constructive dialogue and solution provision, and ultimately implementation.<\/p>\n

\u201cAttending entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to broaden their markets and have a unique opportunity of attracting investments for their ventures,\u201d Sali emphasised.<\/p>\n

There are no prizes up for grabs, as the competition is all about securing funding, Sali said. About 200 entrepreneurs are expected to attend the gathering. Attendees should present a negative test for Covid-19.<\/p>\n
