Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>President Kagame on Wednesday, December 8, arrived in Dar es Salaam where he joined the people of Tanzania to celebrate the country’s 60th independence anniversary. He was on Wednesday received by Tanzanian Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, John Palamagamba Kabudi.<\/p>\n

The Head of State will then join fellow African leaders including the host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan and thousands of Tanzanians for the grand ceremony on Thursday, at Uhuru Stadium.<\/p>\n

The celebrations will then be followed by a State Luncheon hosted in honour of visiting Heads of State and Government, according to a media notice. The event is expected to be graced by among others a presidential address, military parade as well as performance from music groups.<\/p>\n

Rwanda and Tanzania have recently invested in charting ways to enhance ties. Presidents Kagame and Suluhu met in Kigali in August, held bilateral discussions, and signed four bilateral agreements in areas of ICT, cooperation in areas of immigration, in education, and an agreement on cooperation in areas of regulation of medical products.<\/p>\n

Currently, the ties are strongest in trade and investment with potential in multiple other avenues with Rwanda exporting to Tanzania goods valued at close to $300 million annually. On its part, Tanzania sends goods worth over $500m to Rwanda annually.<\/p>\n
