Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>President Paul Kagame has, on December 13, officiated at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana in a ceremony held at Village Urugwiro. He was appointed on December 10 to lead the newly re-established ministry.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, Gasana was the Director-General in charge of Internal Security at NISS (National Intelligence and Security Services) and also previously served as a legislator in the Lower Chamber of Parliament.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony that was attended by fellow members of cabinet and other senior government officials, Kagame congratulated Gasana and wished him productive works in his new duties.<\/p>\n

Kagame added that the new minister is already familiar with security matters, given his previous line of duty on which he will build to \u201ccontinue performing well for the benefit of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

He highlighted that when the Interior Ministry, Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Local Government work jointly, the country will be able to effectively tackle present health challenges occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Kagame also said that as we approach the end of the year, it is now more necessary that the public adheres to Covid-19 preventive measures, pointing out that it is during festive seasons that cases are likely to surge. The Internal Security docket was put under the Ministry of Justice after former Minister General Patrick Nyamvumba was dropped.<\/p>\n
