Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Yannick Noah, the renowned French musician and former professional tennis player, will visit Rwanda as an honorary guest at the forthcoming ATP Challenger 50 Tour which will take place in Kigali from February 26 to March 10.<\/p>\n

Rwanda will become the firts -Saharan country to host the prestigious international tennis event which attracts participants from around the world ranked 150 and above on the ATP rankings. All matches will be held at the IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Club.<\/p>\n

Noah won the French Open in 1983 and currently serves as the captain of France’s Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams.<\/p>\n

Kigali will showcase a diverse array of talent from countries including France, Israel, Argentina, Romania, Croatia, Australia, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Egypt, Switzerland, Moldova, and Italy.<\/p>\n

The ATP Challenger Tour stands as the second-highest level of men’s professional tennis globally.<\/p>\n

It serves as a platform for players to develop their skills, gain valuable experience, and climb the ATP Rankings in hopes of reaching the top 100 and competing in the ATP Tour and Grand Slam tournaments.<\/p>\n

Who is Yannick Noah?<\/p>\n

Born on May 18,1960, Yannick Noah, is a French former professional tennis player and singer.<\/p>\n

Noah won the French Open in 1983 and is currently the captain of both France’s Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams.<\/p>\n

French musician and retired professional tennis player Yannick Noah is expected in Kigali as an honorary guest for the ATP Challenger 50 Tour-Net<\/p>\n

During his nearly two-decade career, Noah captured 23 singles titles and 16 doubles titles, reaching a career-high singles ranking of world No. 3 in July 1986 and attaining the world No.1 doubles ranking the following month.<\/p>\n

Since his retirement from the game, Noah has remained in the public eye as a popular music performer and as the co-founder, with his mother, of a charity organisation for underprivileged children.<\/p>\n

He is also the father of former NBA player Joakim Noah.<\/p>\n
