Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Vision City Phase II project of Ultimate Developers Ltd (UDL), a subsidiary of Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB), has achieved global recognition for sustainable development, winning an award from the International Property Awards.<\/p>\n

The “Best Sustainable Residential Development” award, presented by the International Property Awards headquartered in Essex, UK, recognises outstanding achievements in the property and real estate industry.<\/p>\n

On the continental level, UDL scooped two awards back in November 2023: Kigali Green Complex, honored as the Best Sustainable Commercial Development, and Vision City Phase 2, which received the Best Sustainable Residential Development award.<\/p>\n

Established in 2011, UDL has emerged as a frontrunner in Rwanda\u2019s real estate sector. Although the project is still in progress, it impressed the judges with its comprehensive plans, including sketches and models demonstrating the proposed sustainable features.<\/p>\n

The International Property Awards competition involves evaluations at national, continental, and global levels by a panel of approximately 100 real estate experts. Criteria include innovative design, renewable energy integration, waste treatment processes, and the use of environmentally friendly materials.<\/p>\n

Vision City Phase 2, situated in Gacuriro cell, Kinyinya sector, Gasabo district, aims to provide nearly 1,500 sustainable houses. Construction of model houses began in November 2023.<\/p>\n

It will triple in size compared to Phase I and will incorporate essential amenities that were not available in the previous phase. The concept behind Vision City Phase II is to create a comprehensive urban environment where residents can access all the services essential for daily life. This includes healthcare facilities, schools, supermarkets, fitness centres, and entertainment venues, among others. This will ensure a complete and convenient lifestyle for residents.<\/p>\n

Alice Ntamitondero, CEO of UDL, expressed delight at the recognition: “We are thrilled to be recognized among the top five globally in terms of sustainable residential communities. As always, our aim is to continue building projects that not only stand out on the global stage but also contribute to enhancing the quality of life for Rwandan citizens.”<\/p>\n

UDL sees the awards as an opportunity to showcase its dedication to sustainable development and raise the profile of its projects.<\/p>\n

Key features of Vision City Phase 2 include PV panels, solar thermal water heating systems, energy-efficient plumbing fixtures, wellness enhancements, air quality sensors, and smart appliances.<\/p>\n

UDL stated that these accolades act as \u201cvalidation for the sustainability of our projects. They will enhance our marketing endeavors, particularly in appealing to investors keen on green communities or international entities seeking sustainable office spaces. This also presents Rwandans with the chance to reside and work in environmentally friendly developments.\u201d<\/p>\n

UDL’s green investment aligns with Rwanda\u2019s Green Growth and Climate Resilience National Strategy (GGCRS), which aims to achieve energy security and a low-carbon energy supply, supporting the development of green industries and services while avoiding deforestation. Rwanda targets a 38 percent reduction in emissions by 2030.\r\n
