Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR basketball club head coach Mazen Trakh has lauded the progress of his team after a 10-day camp they held in Qatar in preparation for the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL) where they will represent Rwanda in May.<\/p>\n

During the camp in Qatar, the team played five friendly games, including two against Qatari champions Al Rayyan, but won all of them.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Times Sport, Trakh said the camp aimed at knowing where the team was in terms, noting that he was glad with the way they improved game by game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got better every game that we played here, and then in the last game we beat the best team in Qatar pretty easily,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s a lot to be happy about but you know what? We have got to get even better,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The games in Qatar were played in 12-minute-quarters format, as opposed to the usual 10 minutes\u2019 format used in Rwanda. The development was aimed at giving more players an opportunity to participate and get more playing time.<\/p>\n

APR now turns its attention to the local league in addition to a couple of friendly games before its BAL journey starts in May.<\/p>\n

The team was placed in the Sahara Conference of the BAL. The conference will be played between May 4-12 in Dakar, Senegal. It also comprises Tunisia\u2019s US Monastir, AS Douanes of Senegal and Nigerian Champions Rivers Hoopers.<\/p>\n
