Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Kigali, Rwanda, March 6th, 2024: In honour of International Women\u2019s Day, NCBA Bank Rwanda donated the Health Insurance cover (Mutuelle de sante\u0301) to teen mothers, single mothers with disabilities and their families (300 persons). The donation was presented to Certa Foundation\u2019s Centre for Justice and Advocacy. The centre aims to promote access to quality and timely justice for women and girls affected by Sexual Gender-Based violence (SGBV).<\/p>\n

Florida Kabasinga, the Executive Director of Certa Foundation, expressed gratitude to NCBA Bank for the generous donation towards women in Cyuve and Muhoza sectors in Musanze District. She affirmed that, “This contribution will greatly improve their lives by providing essential healthcare for themselves, their children, and their families.”<\/p>\n

Lina Higiro, CEO of NCBA Bank Rwanda, emphasized the bank’s commitment to women empowerment and social inclusion, stating, “Breaking barriers for girls and women is a top priority for NCBA good health is fundamental to achieving this goal.”<\/p>\n

Building a Higher Performance Bank through Gender Equality and Communities<\/p>\n

Gender equality and inclusion lie at the heart of NCBA Bank\u2019s policies and have positively impacted the growth of the bank.<\/p>\n

The bank currently provides employees with flexible hours, which include an option to work at home once a week. The bank has also put in place a Mother\u2019s Room at its headquarters and new branches and intends to expand this to all branches. In addition, NCBA has increased men\u2019s paternity leave from five days to fourteen, and fathers can spread this leave for up to six months.<\/p>\n

To further promote professional and personal development, the bank has created internal communities like \u201cMen\u2019tors\u201d, for male staff collaborate on social and professional initiatives and \u201cWINRs\u201d \u2013 Women in NCBA Rwanda, for women employees.<\/p>\n

NCBA Rwanda is also currently the only bank in the country with a chartered Toastmasters Club, a global organization that aims to create better leaders. Additionally, the bank has a book club that hosts a Rwandan author every quarter to promote reading among staff. Thus far, 22 books and authors have been covered since the club\u2019s inception in 2021.<\/p>\n

In addition, NCBA will soon launch a leadership pipeline to enable middle managers, aiming for senior management and a mentorship program to enhance equitable access to opportunities by providing career sponsors within and outside the organization.<\/p>\n

Year on Year growth<\/p>\n

As a result of this inclusivity and creation of growth opportunities, NCBA Bank Rwanda, has rapidly grown into one of Rwanda’s leading banks renowned for asset finance, digital banking, corporate banking, and exceptional customer service.<\/p>\n

The bank has revolutionized the provision of financial services by digitally banking over 4.2 million Rwandans, of whom 60% are youth (under 35) and 41% are women.<\/p>\n

As at the end of September 2023, the bank registered a 130% year on year (YOY) growth on its Profit before tax to Rwf 6.8bn from Rwf 3Bn in September 2022, funded by with significant growth on deposits which grew to Rwf 141Bn from Rwf 76Bb (85% growth); Gross Loan growth contributed to income closing at Rwf111Bn from Rwf 82Bn, leading to a total balance sheet of Rwf 194Bn, a 46% year on Year Growth.<\/p>\n

As a member of the NCBA Group, the bank has regional presence of more than 100 branches across Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, and Kenya and a customer base of over 60 million, making it the largest banking group in Africa by customer base.<\/p>\n\r\n
