Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>President Paul Kagame was in Belgium on Sunday, December 19, for a meeting that prepares for the African Union (AU)-European Union (EU) Summit slated February 2022.<\/p>\n

The Head of State joined the president of European Council, Charles Michel, AU Chairperson, President Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi, Chairperson of AU commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, and other officials.<\/p>\n

In October this year, AU-EU ministerial meeting concluded in Kigali for its second edition, where 68 foreign ministers convened to among others mull ways of cementing Africa\u2019s and European partnerships.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, they discussed ways to bring to an end the pandemic Covid-19 which has strained global development, construction of vaccine manufacturing plant in mid-2022, global actions on climate change, call for peace, among others. The sixth summit between AU and EU is scheduled next year, February 17th and 18th where world leaders will convene in Brussels, Belgium.<\/p>\n

The partnership between two parties is expected to provide frameworks for tackling structural challenges between Africa and Europe in areas such as economic and trade cooperation, green transformation, digitalisation, peace and security, governance and migration.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the meeting in Belgium, President Kagame on Sunday met and held bilateral talks with President Tshisekedi, according to the Office of the President.<\/p>\n
