Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Goalkeeper Maxime Kali Wenssens is pleased that Amavubi\u2019s goalkeeping department is well endowed and believes that competition with his fellow goalkeepers will only make the team better.<\/p>\n

The Union Saint Gilloise shot stopper exchanged a starting berth between the posts with Fiacre Ntwari during the recent international friendly matches held in Antananarivo.<\/p>\n

Ntwari started between the posts when Rwanda played out a goalless draw against Botswana on Friday, March 22, before Frank Spittler handed Wenssens debut start in Amavubi goal and went on the impress, helping his side record a 2-0 win over home side Madagascar on Monday, March 25.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old made some great saves in the encounter, a performance that left the door open for him to fight for the starting role with Ntwari and third choice keeper Gad Muhawenayo in future fixtures against Benin and Lesotho during the June World Cup Qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Considering the current competition among the three goalkeepers, Wenssens admitted all the goalkeepers are good and that the technical team will have a big task to make their choice for the subsequent games.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s up to the coach to decide who plays in future games. We are three top goalkeepers and only one can start. As long as the fans are behind us we can achieve a lot,” Wenssens said after Madagascar victory.<\/p>\n

The three goalkeepers have been in impressive form at club level and they could give Spittler a selection headache in the national team as they have been showing no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

Rwanda kept two clean sheets in as many games played in Antananarivo and Wenssens was full of praise for defensive pair of Thierry Manzi and Ange Mutsinzi who combined well to ensure that the shot stopper didn\u2019t concede a goal against Madagascar.<\/p>\n

“The whole team defended well especially Thierry (Manzi) and Ange (Mutsinzi). We kept the clean sheet and it was an amazing day for us,” he said.<\/p>\n

Wenssens 22, previously played for KV Mechelen and was uncapped internationally at any level before opting to represent Rwanda.<\/p>\n
