Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty-two-time league champions APR are in advanced talks to acquire the service of midfielder Abraham Siankombo from Zesco United ahead of the 2024\/25 CAF Champions league.<\/p>\n

Reports reaching Times Sport indicate that talks are underway between the military side and the Siankombo who is also a transfer target for South African side Ajax Cape Town.<\/p>\n

The Zambia international is, according to sources, being monitored by the Rwandan champions along with Read Arrows forward Ricky Banda as club expects to boost chances of performing better in the continental club football competition next season.<\/p>\n

“We are looking forward to signing the pair and we are including them in our champions league squad. We have other names whom we believe will help the club,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

Siankombo, 26, plays for the Zambian national team while Banda plays for Zambia U23s.<\/p>\n

APR FC have already won the 2023-2024 Primus National League and they have automatically booked the ticket to represent Rwanda in the CAF Champions league next season.<\/p>\n

The champions are now adding new blood into the squad in fresh efforts to improve their performances in the CAF Champions League.<\/p>\n

APR FC, Chairman, Col Richard Karasira revealed that the club has reached the market and that there are some discussions going on with a couple of players, assuring its fans that they are going to build a strong team which can complete at highest level.<\/p>\n

This came after club head coach Thierry Froger issued a frank verdict that the current squad is not good enough to challenge elite teams across the continent.<\/p>\n

APR’s best campaign in Africa\u2019s premier club competition was during the 2004 season when they reached the third round under the stewardship of late Jean Marie Ntagwabira.<\/p>\n

Since then, the military side, regarded as the country\u2019s most successful club, has faltered in the continent\u2019s elite competition.<\/p>\n
