Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Mukura Victory Sports goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato has urged goalkeepers in the Rwandan Primus National League to be more responsible. The experienced Ugandan goalkeeper scored a 95th minute stunning header to earn his side a point against Kiyovu Sport on Thursday afternoon at Kigali Pele Stadium in a match day 28 fixture which ended 1-1.<\/p>\n

The agile shot stopper insists now football has changed and goalkeepers have huge roles to play.<\/p>\n

“I am very glad with my goal and being the first goalkeeper to score this season. I do not think a goalkeeper has scored from open play in the league before,” Sebwato told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

“Now the trend in the game has changed globally. A modern goalkeeper should not be only in the post. He must take his responsibilities especially when is the final minutes when his team is down.”<\/p>\n

Sebwato draws inspiration from Liverpool goalkeeper Allison Becker who is noted for scoring goals in the EPL.<\/p>\n

“I take motivation from Allison, I saw him doing that a couple of times in the EPL for Liverpool.”<\/p>\n

“The game was very good and I am very happy to score my first goal in the Rwandan Primus National League and [being] the first goal keeper to score this season.”<\/p>\n

Sebwato, 31, peviously played for a number of clubs including Sports Club Villa and Bright Stars of Uganda as well as Onduparaka and Sofapaka Sports Club of Kenya before joining Mukura in 2021.<\/p>\n
