Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR Women volleyball head coach Peter Kamasa could barely contain his excitement as he heaped praise on his players with whom he won a treble on his debut season at the club.<\/p>\n

The army side\u2019s women defeated Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) 3-0 in Sunday\u2019s Genocide Memorial Tournament final at Notre Dame des Anges to win their third title of the season under Kamasa\u2019s tutelage.<\/p>\n

The team also won the Kayumba Memorial Tournament in February after beating 3-0 Police in the final before winning the league title after coming from behind to beat Police 2-1 in the4 best-of-three final series held at Ecole Belge de Kigali in May.<\/p>\n

“We’re not the best team in APR history but we’ve had the best season. We’ve won three trophies but it’s also about how we’ve won them,” Kamasa said of his treble winners. \u201cThe girls played stylish Volleyball and the better team won the title today,” he told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

“We’re very happy and delirious. We’re aware that we’ve done something magnificent. I’d like to congratulate the whole club leaders, members and the fans.”<\/p>\n

Kamasa, who won also won the Genocide Memorial tournament as assistant coach with RRA and REG, said it has been a good season for him but winning the treble on his first season as a head coach left him emotional and beyond excited but he admits he is just getting started.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a coach it is great to win three trophies for the first time as a head coach,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“I have to process my emotions now as we’ve done something wonderful but we still have a long way to go. We are not a tall side and have defended without a few players but we attacked and defended well against the best team and best coach in Rwanda.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I just want to play well and be back to the finals again. You can play badly and still win, but if you are daring and attacked, you have a better chance of winning \u2013 there’s nothing more dangerous than not taking a risk. You can enjoy a victory but with time you enjoy it even more,” the former Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare (GSOB) \u2018Indatwa\u2019 receiver attacker noted.<\/p>\n

APR finished the tournament without losing a single game after beating KAVC 3-1, RRA 3-0 and IPRC Kigali in Group B matches before beating East Africa University 3-0 before dominating RRA 3-0 in the semifinal and final respectively.<\/p>\n

On top of the trophy and medals, APR women pocketed a cash prize of Rwf1,000,000 while the finalists RRA walked away with Rwf 700,000. Police women bagged Rwf 500,000 after finishing in third place.\r\n
