Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>A celebration unfolded at the Intare Arena in Kigali on May 31, 2024 as University of Kigali proudly convened degrees upon 1,428 graduates during its eighth graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n

Established in 2013, this private university, offering a diverse range of 17 master’s and 11 undergraduate diploma programmes, has steadily grown in reputation and academic excellence.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, a coming together of students, parents, guardians, and dignitaries, saw a remarkable balance as 54 per cent were females and 46 per cent males. These graduates were honoured for their outstanding accomplishments in both bachelor’s and master’s programmers, with the majority coming from the School of Business and Economics at the Kigali and Musanze campuses.<\/p>\n

Themed \u201cBuilding a Resilient and Inclusive Future\u201d, the ceremony reflected on the challenges faced by students, especially during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the Board of Promoters Prof. Nshuti Manasseh expressed gratitude to the graduates and emphasised the government\u2019s commitment to aligning education with the demands of the labour market.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you embark on your future, keep in mind that the knowledge and skills you have gained here will serve as tools for you to create, influence, and improve the world. You are poised to be leaders, innovators, and change agents. Accept your roles with excitement and integrity. Create networks, foster relationships, and constantly strive to be the best version of yourself,\u201d Prof. Nshuti stated.<\/p>\n

He encouraged the graduates to pursue further education, highlighting the transformative power of learning in shaping individuals and society.<\/p>\n

Philibert Afrika, Chairman of the University Governing Body, commended the graduates for their resilience and determination, urging them to become pillars of an inclusive society where everyone can thrive.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember that you are graduating into a world of unrivalled opportunity and challenges. As a result, you will require additional knowledge and abilities to survive the test of time and make significant contributions to the creation of a resilient and inclusive future for yourself and others,\u201d Afrika reiterated.<\/p>\n

In a heartfelt address, Charles Fernando Sotz, the Chancellor of the University, emphasised the significance of the graduates\u2019 journey, underscoring their transition into a new phase of life filled with opportunities and responsibilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing forward, we expect you to be positive change agents for the future, as stated in our motto. You are our greatest ambassadors and among you are people who will lead and shape tomorrow\u2019s societies,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the importance of adaptability and mutual support, qualities that have been instrumental in navigating through the challenges of the past few years.<\/p>\n

Danson Musyoki, the Vice Chancellor, praised the graduates for their resilience and inclusivity, describing this day as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough graduate unemployment and limited employment opportunities remain a major concern for stakeholders, University of Kigali graduates possess relevant skills that make them globally competitive and capable of creating employment opportunities for themselves and others,\u201d Musyoki said.<\/p>\n

He emphasised the collective effort in building a resilient future, reflecting on the shared experiences that have shaped their journey.<\/p>\n

Fanny Munyana, representing her fellow graduates, expressed how happy she was that she finished her studies, calling for a commitment to fostering diverse and empowered communities. She emphasised the role of graduates as advocates for inclusivity in their professional endeavours, inspiring positive change in society.<\/p>\n
