Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>President Paul Kagame on Sunday, June 30, sent condolences to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, following the death of his mother Princess Lalla Latifa.<\/p>\n

Lalla Latifa passed away on Saturday at the age of 78. She was the widow of King Hassan II.<\/p>\n

“On behalf of the people of Rwanda and myself, I send deepest condolences to His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the passing of his mother, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Latifa,” Kagame wrote in a post on X.<\/p>\n

“Rwanda stands with the Royal Family and the people of the Kingdom of Morocco during this difficult time.”<\/p>\n

Known affectionately as the Mother of the Royal Children, Lalla Latifa was born in 1946 in Khenifra, Morocco.<\/p>\n

She hailed from the Amahzoune family, which is part of the Zayane tribe.<\/p>\n

Her marriage to King Hassan II produced five children: Princess Lalla Meryem, King Mohammed VI, Princess Lalla Asma, Princess Lalla Hasna, and Prince Moulay Rachid.<\/p>\n

Lalla Latifa is known to have led a private life, not holding any public role.<\/p>\n

She spent much of her later years in France, before permanently settling in Marrakesh in 2019.<\/p>\n
