Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Everyone at Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women basketball club has eyes on nothing but winning this year\u2019s women\u2019s basketball league to stand a chance to make a comeback to the FIBA Zone V Women\u2019s Championship.<\/p>\n

The club now leads the table with 25 points, a point clear of second-placed APR who have played a game less. Groups Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza are in third place with 21 points.<\/p>\n

Last year, REG finished the 2023 Zone V campaign as runners-up after losing to KPA 87-53 in the final but the story has to change and go a step further to win the competition, according to club coach Esperance Mukaneza.<\/p>\n

But, she said, the team must first win the domestic league at all cost despite stiff competition from title rivals APR WBBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know we can do better in every match but it is good to have a strong mentality and character to be at our best in each match we play. We will continue to work hard ahead of the next fixtures and the play-offs round,\u201d Mukaneza told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to win the league title and our mission is to take each game as it comes. We know where we are coming from and where we are heading thus we don\u2019t have to relax until the last match,\u201d added Mukaneza<\/p>\n

Their next league match is scheduled against The Hoops on July 3.<\/p>\n
