{"id":81291,"date":"2024-08-10T16:03:08","date_gmt":"2024-08-10T16:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/all-news\/kevin-muhire-named-last-seasons-best-player"},"modified":"2024-08-10T16:35:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-10T16:35:06","slug":"kevin-muhire-named-last-seasons-best-player","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/sport\/kevin-muhire-named-last-seasons-best-player","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Muhire named last season&#8217;s best player"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rayon Sports\u2019 captain Kevin Muhire has been named Player of the Season for the 2023\/24 Primus National League.<\/p>\n<p>The talented midfielder secured the honour despite fierce competition from Police FC&#8217;s Elijah Ani and APR&#8217;s Jean Bosco Ruboneka.<\/p>\n<p>Held on Friday, August 9, the awarding ceremony saw a number of accolades given to various players and coaches who performed well during the previous season.<\/p>\n<p>Muhire\u2019s performances for Rayon last season were instrumental in propelling the team to a second-place finish despite the departure of key players such as former captain Abdul Rwatubyaye, Congolese midfielder Heritier Nzinga Luvumbu, and Ugandan winger Joackim Ojera.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder\u2019s quality shone in several crucial matches, for instance, one against Etoile de l&#8217;Est in Ngoma, where he scored a late winner.<\/p>\n<p>Muhire takes over the best player\u2019s title from Leandre Onana, a former Rayon Sports player who won it in the 2022\/23 campaign.<\/p>\n<p><b>Other Major Award Winners:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s coach of the season- Thierry Froger (APR)<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s Best Young Player of the season &#8211; Elie Tatou Iradukunda (Mukura Victory Sports)<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s goal of the season- Arsene Tuyisenge (Now at APR but last season at Rayon)<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s goalkeeper of the season &#8211; Pavelh Ndzila (APR)<\/p>\n<p>Top scorer of the season- Elijah Ani (Now at Police, formerly Bugesera FC\/Victor Mbaoma APR FC (15 goals each)<\/p>\n<p>Goal of the season: Arsene Tuyisenge (Rayon Sports)<\/p>\n<p>Best Referee of the season: Ruzindana Nsoro.<\/p>\n<p>Sports journalist of the season (male): Sam Karenzi (FINE FM)<\/p>\n<p>Sports Journalist of the season (female): Ruth Rigoga (RBA)<\/p>\n<p>Team of the season (4-3-3):<\/p>\n<p>Goalkeeper: Pavelh Ndzila (APR FC)<\/p>\n<p>Defenders:Cedric Kubwimana (Mukura VS), Clement Niyigena (APR FC), Shafiq Bakaki (Musanze FC), Christian Ishimwe (APR FC)<\/p>\n<p>Midfielders: Abdul Rahman Rukundo (Amagaju FC), Bosco Ruboneka (APR FC), Kevin Muhire (Rayon Sports)<\/p>\n<p>Attack: Muhadjiri Hakizimana (Police FC), Victor Mbaoma (APR FC), Eljah Ani (Bugesera FC)<\/p>\n<p>Rayon Sports\u2019 captain Kevin Muhire has been named Player of the Season for the 2023-24 Primus National League.
