Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Canadian Jay Lin Gibson and Tunisian Nadine Hamrouni have once again proven their dominance at the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade 4) at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Courts, advancing to finals of the second week of the tournament which concludes Saturday, August 24.<\/p>\n

Gibson booked his place in the boys’ singles final after a hard-fought victory over Poland’s Juliusz Stanczyk. The Canadian on Friday came back from a set down to win the semifinal thriller in three sets 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. He will face Stanczyk countryman Wiktor Jez who qualified for the final after overcoming Japan\u2019s Eiji Fujita in two straight sets 7-6 (2), 6-3.<\/p>\n

In the girls’ competition, top-seed Hamrouni continued her impressive run by defeating Leila Akhmetova 6-3, 6-4 in the last four game to secure her spot in the final.<\/p>\n

She now has her eyes set to winning the second straight trophy in as many weeks but with a final battle against Mexico\u2019s Romina Dominguez Garcia who comfortably dispatched India’s Sreemanya Reddy Anguonda 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Both Gibson and Hamrouni are defending their Week I titles which they won on Saturday, August 17, after defeating Burundi\u2019s Allan Gatoto and Belgian Anouk Vandevelde in the finals respectively.<\/p>\n

The ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade 4) tournament, which runs from August 19 to 24, offers young athletes a valuable opportunity to earn ranking points toward their professional careers, with the winners set to receive 60 points and the runners-up 36 points.<\/p>\n
