Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Brazilian coach Roberto Oliveira Gonc\u0327alves do Carmo, best known as Robertinho, returned to Rayon Sports for a second spell with a mission to bring the club back to glory days.<\/p>\n

It is half a decade since Rayon Sports last won the league title and Robertinho doesn\u2019t believe the club is in the right place and he wants to bring it back where it belongs.<\/p>\n

His Blues are leading the charge in Rwanda Premier League with 20 points, two points clear of second-placed Gorilla FC who they are playing on Sunday, November 24 at Kigali Pele\u0301 Stadium.<\/p>\n

Prior to the match, Robertinho said he is “excited” to “take the club back to where it belongs. Now it is a new phase where we start to rebuild the strong team which can win league and peace cup consistently,\u201d<\/p>\n

Rayon are unbeaten so far this campaign and Brazilian believes his side can build on the run and go on to win the title which they last won in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019ve come here to settle down, stay for a while and achieve a lot of good things. I\u2019m really motivated to get this club back where it belongs. I really believe that we can achieve something great here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rayon Sports have become a different club this season and things look a lot more promising under new management led by club president Thade\u0301e Twagirayezu and supreme organ president Paul Muvunyi who, with their team, are all working together to help Robertinho shape a bright future for his team.<\/p>\n

“We take a very clear direction with how we want to move forward with the club, a real connection between the team and supporters, the committee and board and I think now it is excitement,” the Brazilian coach, who guided Rayon Sports to the Group Stages of CAF Confederation Cup in 2018, noted.<\/p>\n

Rayon Sports and Gorilla FC are engaged in a rivalry which was fueled by the match that ended Rayon\u2019s title chase during the 2022\/23 season after losing 3-1 to Gorilla FC.<\/p>\n

It was under Robertinho when Rayon Sports last won the Rwanda Premier League-IGIHE<\/p>\n
