Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwandan champions APR overcame rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in five sets (25-21, 16-25, 12-25, 25-20,15-10) in a thrilling men\u2019s national volleyball league match held at Petit Stade gymnasium on Friday, November 29.<\/p>\n

Rivalry was at its peak as the two Rwanda volleyball heavyweights locked horns in a match that was characterized by high competitive spirit, featuring thrilling rallies, tactical brilliance, and top plays from the league\u2019s best players.<\/p>\n

The opening set saw APR take charge with a commanding start, executing well-coordinated attacks and demonstrating strong defensive techniques. The army side\u2019s blockers were instrumental in disrupting REG\u2019s offensive plays, and their precision in finishing points was pretty unmatched. Despite REG\u2019s attempts to rally, their unforced errors compounded their struggle, allowing APR to claim the set 25-21.<\/p>\n

The second set was a much closer contest, with REG bouncing back with renewed energy. Their serves grew sharper, putting APR under pressure and forcing errors. But APR\u2019s blockers capitalized on REG\u2019s occasional lapses in focus as they tightened their defense. The set was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times before REG pulled the match even after taking the second set 25-16.<\/p>\n

Determined to stay in the match, REG tightened their defense, with their libero making digs to keep the rallies alive. Their attackers exploited gaps in APR formation, maintaining a slim lead throughout. This persistence and tactical improvement allowed REG to claim the set 25-12 which gave them a lifeline.<\/p>\n

They were in control until things turned the other way round.<\/p>\n

APR regrouped in the fourth set to counter REG\u2019s momentum. Their attackers found the rhythm again, delivering powerful spikes and strategic placement that REG struggled to defend, and claimed the fourth set 25-20 to force the match into the tiebreak which they eventually won 15-10.<\/p>\n

In the earlier game in women\u2019s category, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) dominated APR in four sets to extend their unbeaten run four wins.<\/p>\n

RRA were in control of the game from the very beginning, courtesy of their precise attacks and solid defense. They won the first set 25-21.<\/p>\n

APR improved in the second set, pushing RRA with stronger serves and blocks, and sharp plays earned them a 19-25 win. In the third set, RRA maintained their dominance, using powerful spikes and quick transitions to claim it 25-22 and the fourth 25-23.<\/p>\n

Action continues on Saturday, November 30, where, in the women\u2019s league, RRA face Ruhango Volleyball Club at 2PM.<\/p>\n\r\n
